Do you need a visa to visit Denmark?
Denmark is part of the Schengen Area, and travelers from non-Schengen countries must apply for a Schengen visa if required. Visa applicants should apply to the country of their main destination—i.e., where they will spend the most days. If your stay is equally divided between multiple Schengen countries, you must apply to the country of first entry.
Important: If you are a family member of an EU/EEA or Swiss citizen who is exercising their right to free movement, or a UK national covered under the Withdrawal Agreement, your visa application must be processed according to EU rules, which may offer certain advantages such as expedited processing.
Some nationalities are subject to mandatory consultation during visa processing, which may extend the timeline. See Annex 16 of the Visa Code Handbook for more details.
If you are a non-EU citizen and plan to attend TMA 2025 in Denmark, you may need a short-stay Schengen visa (Type C), unless your country has a visa waiver agreement with the EU.
Please note: a Schengen visa does not allow you to reside, work, or study in Denmark. It is intended only for short visits such as tourism, business meetings, and conferences.

Visa Support Letters
As part of the visa application, you may be required to submit a visa support letter from the conference organizers.
To request a visa support letter:
-
Register and pay the registration fee for the conference.
-
Email your request to the TMA General or Local Chairs at sajadh@es.aau.dk or jens@es.aau.dk. Include the following:
- Your full name (as it appears in your passport)
- Passport number and date of birth
- Your current postal address
- Your Registration Confirmation Number
- Title(s) of any accepted paper(s), and whether you are the sole author or a co-author (please send list of all authors)
Requests are processed in the order received. A PDF support letter will be emailed to you within 1–3 business days. This electronic copy serves as the official version and can be printed for your visa appointment. We do not send faxes. If you do not receive the printed letter by postal mail in time, the PDF is generally sufficient.
Please note:
-
Visa support letters are issued only to registered and paid participants.
-
If a participant withdraws after receiving a visa support letter, the Danish consulate will be notified of the withdrawal.
